Grounded in public data

The model combines 2023 city building footprints, USGS 3DEP elevation data and 2025 aerial imagery. Building sides are simple GIS extrusions; they are not photographed façades. Streets and land cover come from the aerial imagery.

The elevation export uses a 1 m grid; the web terrain mesh is sampled at about 9.4 m. A small documented DEM error area uses a coarser USGS source and interpolation adjusted to the intact patch edges. The terrain capture year is not verified. Dates differ between datasets, so the model does not describe Austin today.
