austin-tx.us is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of Austin, Travis County, or any government agency. Nothing on this site is an official record, and nothing here should be treated as a substitute for the City's, County's, or a licensed professional's own determination. For official information, go to austintexas.gov. We say this here, and again on every page that shows data, because it matters more than a standard footer disclaimer usually gets credit for: this project only works if it's clear about what it is and isn't.

What it is: a project that takes public property, permitting, zoning, and floodplain data that Austin and Travis County already publish — scattered across different city departments, formats, and lookup tools — and organizes it by address, on one page per address, in plain language, with a link back to the original source for every fact shown.

This is not a people-search site

It's worth being explicit about this, because the shape of the idea — one page per address — invites an obvious, uncomfortable comparison to sites like Whitepages, Spokeo, or Radaris that exist to answer "who lives here." That is not what this project does, and it's not a boundary we're being careful about by accident — it's the core of what this site is for.

Every page here is about a place: its permit history, its zoning, its flood-plain status, its jurisdiction — facts about a piece of property, drawn from public government records. We do not publish residents' names, do not run reverse lookups from a name to an address or from a phone number to a person, and do not connect our data to voter rolls, people-search databases, or any other resident-identifying source. A name, a photo, or a story appears on an address page only when the verified owner of that address adds it themselves, through the Claimed tier — never pulled automatically from a third-party source, and never for a resident who hasn't claimed their own address. If you don't claim your address, no name of yours appears on it, ever.

How the data works

Every fact on this site traces back to a named public dataset, a retrieval date, and a link to the original source — not a scraped, cached, or estimated number. Where a dataset doesn't have an answer for a given address, we say "no data on file" rather than guess or interpolate from a nearby address. If something looks wrong, or you'd rather your address's page not exist at all, our address removal process handles both, with a response inside five business days.
