Bouldin Creek lies south of Lady Bird Lake, between South First Street and South Lamar Boulevard. The neighborhood takes its name from the creek that runs through it toward the lake, with Stacy Park following the creek's path through much of the area. Housing here consists largely of early- to mid-20th-century bungalows and cottages on a grid of narrow residential streets, mixed with newer infill construction. South Congress Avenue's commercial strip runs along the neighborhood's eastern edge, bordering the Travis Heights neighborhood on the other side of the avenue. The neighborhood falls within Austin's full-purpose city limits.
