Zilker is bounded by Lady Bird Lake to the north and Barton Creek to the west, just south of downtown Austin across the MoPac and South Lamar bridges. The neighborhood surrounds Zilker Park, a roughly 350-acre city park that includes Barton Springs Pool, a spring-fed swimming pool kept near a constant year-round temperature, and Zilker Botanical Garden. The park hosts the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival and the summer Blues on the Green concert series. Zilker's residential streets date largely from the mid-20th century, and the Barton Creek Greenbelt trail system runs along the neighborhood's western edge, connecting toward Barton Hills and downtown.
